Public Health Professional
PRESENTATIONS
Presenting has allowed me to develop skills I can use with my professional career. Here are some of the conferences I have attended and presentations given.
HIPS IN THE STATES
I attended and presented at the 2020 HIPS (High Impact Practices) in the States Conference at Texas A&M University. I enjoyed listening to many informative presentations and am excited to implement new ideas back into the LHSI program and into my future professional career!
I learned a lot about HIPS and how they can be implemented in a variety of different methods and ways. The biggest thing I took away from the conference was that HIPS is so varied in design and also in effectiveness. There are a lot of different kind of HIPS and they can touch a wide range of students of different class standings, race, ethnicity, socio-economic status, etc. HIPS can be a tool to connect these people into communities where they can grow and become professionals!

I also learned a lot from the conference personally. I feel even more confident than before in my abilities to be a professional. I am more confident in my abilities to travel as well! Before the trip I had been on an international trip on a plane, but this was my first domestic trip on a plane. It defiantly taught me a lot about how the domestic travel processes work.

Overall, I really benefited from the conference trip. I was able to learn a lot, grow professionally and personally, and meet new people at a new place! I hope to continue to attend conferences and continue to grow.
